If you are happy, you will make the world happy.” It is so thrilling that she is celebrated in the way that our good friend, Ari Seth Cohen, has been doing for years.

Throughout our decades on the Upper West Side, we have helped many a fashionable femme follow their style destiny.  It’s all the more pleasing when we are graced with the presence of an accomplished woman such as Mitsuko Shimomura, who stopped by Off Broadway Boutique last Saturday.

One of the most prolific journalists and authors in the world, she was in town for some R&R and instantly fell in love with our world of glamour and glitz.  To say that our Countess of Glamour was charmed by her visit is an understatement, as she was enthralled to see her time-honored motto of dressing for the theatre of one’s life come to fruition through Ms. Shimomura.

Hello, everyone!  We at Off Broadway Boutique are over-the-moon by the magnificent write-up that we’d recently received from the fabulous New York Times article, “Dressing for the Theatre of Life”.  To be considered as one of the must-visit ‘neighborhood joints’ in the metropolitan section of the Sunday edition is truly an honor.  What’s more, it was a fantastic feeling to see our wonderful shop being captured in some of the most vivid photos and eloquent language.

Having been an Upper West Side style staple for the past 50 years, it was thrilling to invite the esteemed newspaper into the fun and fashionable world of our boutique.  Our Countess of Glamour, Lynn Dell, was in full force as she held court with her magnificent team of fashion consultants and our beloved customers.  With lively conversation punctuating the glamour of our gorgeous clothing and stunning jewelry, we went above and beyond to present the full Off Broadway Boutique experience to the New York Times.

We also had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of the talented photojournalist, Victor Blue, who spent an entire Saturday snapping countless pictures of our shop.  From capturing the camaraderiebetween our intensely loyal clientele to portraying an intimate look at the inner workings of the boutique, he presented Off Broadway Boutique in a wonderful light – a light that has proven to be quite invaluable.

Hello, everyone!  While we at Off Broadway Boutique have been blessed to host some of the most diversely stylish women in the world, we tend to get a little awestruck when graced with the presence of a legend.  Such was the case with the renowned Rita Moreno, who stopped by our shop last Saturday evening with plenty of charm and elegance to spare.

Enjoying the recent success of her bestselling book, Rita Moreno: A Memoir, she arrived with the intention of buying plenty of fashionable pieces from our collection.  And buy she did, as the fantastic Ms. Moreno showcased her great taste in clothing, jewelry, and other wonderful Off Broadway Boutique products. What’s more, her gorgeous beauty – at 83 years old, no less! – was the perfect complement to the grace that is befitting of the true Broadway legend that she is.

To say that it was an honor to have her in our boutique is an understatement, as we can easily say that having Rita Moreno shop with us was the privilege of a lifetime that we will never forget!

One of the first things that she’d found was a chic black net top that comes with a lovely tank top underneath, as well as a few palettes that make for a fashionable look.

Immediately becoming swept away by the frenzy of spring and fall shopping, Lynn had to catch her breath a bit – as she’d just returned from vacation in Mexico the day before.

Not one to shop alone, she took her adorable assistant, Brianna, along with her. Though Lynn is always asked if she is her daughter, she definitely doesn’t mind saying yes – as they work splendidly as the bows on top on one another’s heads.

Also at the Coterie show was our colleague, Camille, who cut a cute profile in this photo.  Moonlighting as a model at the Javits Center for the European trade shows, she was the cherry on top of the Lynn and Brianna sundae!

One of the highlights of Lynn’s time at the show was the discovery of a talented new designer, Krista Lawson.  Showcasing a new line of mix and match pieces that work just as well together as they do apart, she expertly captures a fresh new fashion perspective that skews younger.  We’re particularly fans of the long-sleeved mesh tank, striped cami, tufted skirt, and the draped skirt with roll tucking, which is why we’re excited that Lynn bought these pieces in burgundy and white, black and white, black, and burgundy…

…all the more reason why it was such a treat for Lynn to meet the designer, herself.

Lynn was also fond of this marvelously white and fluffy piece with plenty of layers…

It was a tough call, but she stayed firm on wanting to bring the best of the best of the most exciting spring pieces at the show.

These long-sleeved lace dresses from Janique also made the cut, as their stunning beauty complements every frame from tiny to size infinity!  The short lace number – which is available in black or beige – was a highlight as well!

The fabulous impression that this Art Deco-clad model made on Lynn prompted her to snag a few pieces for Off Broadway Boutique fall collection.

One of our classic favorites, Angela Caputi, also had a star turn at the Coterie show with this summer fashion collection.  Although Lynn had the jewelry color slightly changed from coral red and white to coral red in black, every piece sang like a canary as a result of her ingenious decision.

These black and white Angela Caputi jewelry pieces will also be debuting in our store very soon.

Another Angela Caputi selection that Lynn modified from gold to black – while keeping the special texture of the coral red beads and matching earrings intact – it is expected to arrive in our store at the end of this month of the beginning of next.

Lynn was particularly crazy about these Angela Caputi bracelets, as they provide an easy fit that opens and shuts with a hinge design.

In the end, Lynn also decided to modify this bold and beautiful bracelet by redesigning it as a coral red and black beaded jewelry piece.

The easy fit of each jewelry piece in that collection – they each have a magnetic closure! – is indicative of what our Countess of Glamour wants to bring to Off Broadway Boutique this season: easy glamour with top-quality construction that is synonymous with our store!

Hello, everyone!  With the magic of the holidays in the air, it’s no surprise that Off Broadway Boutique was recently blessed with the presence of Susan Graham, one of the top mezzo-soprano singers to ever hit the stage.  After all, we’re sure that this diva wanted to celebrate her latest triumph at the Metropolitan Opera House as Dido in Les Troyens – all the more reasons why we were thrilled to see her step into our store.  Quite a beauty with a gorgeously tall body and a charming personality, Susan was the perfect person to showcase the latest in our lavish fashions and opulent jewelry to.

Having been a loyal and wonderful customer of Off Broadway Boutique‘s for years, Susan has always enjoyed shopping in the front of our store.  Not only does she find bold pieces that are befitting of an opera diva such as herself, she has also come across unique finds that always accentuate her one-of-a-kind style.  It’s a style that is also owed to the gorgeous vintage pieces that she finds in our reruns and consignment department in the back of our shop.  Coupled with her being kind enough to provide our consignment department with her gently-worn clothes, we truly believe that Susan’s effortless chic is a perfect case of style karma blessing this stunningly talented diva.

After getting reacquainted with our staff, Susan slipped into the first of many gorgeous gowns of ours.  To say that they were tailor-made for her is an understatement, as each piece flattered her towering frame while highlighting her diva stature.  In addition, she snagged quite a few pairs of glamorous shoes that were available in size 11 – a size that we’ve often fulfilled in order to cater to the ladies with large feet and lavish taste in footwear.  Needless to say, Off Broadway Boutique is a great source for you to find stylish shoes that are befitting of a diva like Susan Graham.

Eventually, other opera singers from the Metropolitan Opera House recognized her from outside and decided to come inside to say hello.  Although these were colleagues of hers, they were just as awestruck as we were once they laid eyes on her in our amazing gowns.  The energy that permeated the atmosphere made it seem as if we were backstage at an opera show with the top performers thriving in their element.  Needless to say, it was a wonderfully fun experience for all of us!

Being a huge fan of Susan’s, our Countess of Glamour, Lynn Dell, was thrilled that she had stopped by our shop.  After all, it’d be her chance to ask for that 8×10 glossy photo that she’d been requesting over the past 10 years.  Unfortunately, Susan had since upgraded to owning digital photos of herself – a fact that she had found funny while Lynn found it hilarious.  Moments such as these are why Susan Graham is, indeed, a diva and a regular dame wrapped up in one.  It is the ability to electrify the atmosphere with one’s mere presence while being able to relate to everyone that makes one the quintessential Off Broadway Boutique woman – one that we are proud to consider Susan Graham as.

Our newest fashion consultant, Tracy, certainly caught wind of this when she saw Lynn stroll in our shop in a gorgeous purple ensemble yesterday.  Immediately thinking of the purple fox fur and wool hooded neckpiece that she had seen in our vintage and consignment department earlier, she just knew that it’d be the perfect complement to her look.  Although Lynn hadn’t quite understood the hoopla about it, she immediately did an about-face once she realized just how luxurious and comfortable it looked and felt on her.

To say that the result was purely magical is an understatement, as that gorgeous piece is one out of many enchanting ones that can be found in our lovely vintage and consignment department. In once again living up to her well-earned reputation as The Countess of Glamour, Lynn managed to take everyone’s breath away while proving Tracy’s fashion-forward intuition correct.  Therefore, it was no surprise that Tracy made a glorious sale out of it by selling the originally $110 neckpiece to Lynn for 20% off while bringing it down to $83 plus tax.  What’s more, the stunning neckpiece served as yet another example why Off Broadway Boutique’s reruns and consignment department is such a source of exceptionally elegant fashions.  After all, Lynn has prided herself on always adding a little extra something to her style – a motto that has been duplicated in every single piece that she has chosen for Off Broadway Boutique’s diverse collection.

While our winter wonderland window consists of stunning fashions and exquisite accessories, our Countess of Glamour, Lynn Dell, believed that there needed to be a unique quality that would set it apart from every other boutique.  Enter the fantastically talented New York City-based artist, Nita Angeletti, whose artwork has captured the hearts of many for years.  Seeing the perfect way to complete our holiday display, Lynn requested that Nita craft a piece that would complement the wonderfully wintry theme.  The result was a uniquely supreme “Snow Bride” doll sculpture that is worth $1900.  This one-of-a-kind (OOAK) mixed media confection features a beautifully adorned girl that wears a gorgeous skirt.  Underneath the skirt showcases an ice-skating pond scene with a male and female couple who is just as entranced by the moment as you will definitely be once you visit our Off Broadway Boutique winter wonderland display!
